An Interview with Actor Robbie O’Neill

Created on 25 October 2012

Robbie1As promised, I bring you another interview with a Copperhead cast-member. This conversation I had was with Robbie O’Neill, who played an Inspector. He has appeared in fifteen films over his acting career spanning more than twenty years, which includes The Fourth Floor with William Hurt and Shelley Duvall. Enjoy!

GC: Please tell us about the role you played as an Inspector in Copperhead.

RO: My role as the Inspector reflected the corruption that existed in the electoral process of the time and how people might be prevented from voting if they weren’t of a certain persuasion.

GC: Describe for us your overall filming experience.

RO: I thoroughly enjoyed my time on set and was impressed by the professionalism and smoothness of the overall process. It was a “top dollar” experience as Peter Fonda said in a local interview when he commented on the cast and crew!

GC: Before the movie, did you have any knowledge/interest in the American Civil War?

RO: I watched the complete Ken Burns Civil War documentary series that aired on PBS 10 or 15 years ago.

GC: What can you tell us about your film career?

RO: I did a 12-part CBC series in the 1980s with a continuing role. In the realm of feature films, I played supporting roles opposite Billie Zane, Marlee Matlin and Daniel Baldwin, as well as several other films that were independent productions.

I would like to thank Robbie for taking the time to conduct this interview!
